Where the rabbi’s will stand? This great aunt needs a chair ASAP. You handled it all, along with your staff, who serviced the event with the same care and sensitivity, ensuring the mourners ate, guests’ plates were cleared and the platters replenished.
Heaters needed? They appeared. More people than expected? You had the goods. Classy disposables. Done. And each night, as I dragged my broken heart upstairs, the kitchen was clean and organized.
Plattered, warm, fresh homemade food matters when in the depths of grief. It helped the food go down and created a setting of hospitality for those who came to support us. After all, visitors left work in a hurry to join us in prayer … and they too were able to celebrate and honor my dad in a way he would have wanted.
While I cannot bring my dad back, your curiosity and intentionality offered the benefits of end of life handholding in a special way, almost like a death dula. Your skill set allowed me to focus on the avalanche of to do’s while mindfully focusing on legacy and memory.
